About the Doctor - Dr. Jill Clark

At 16 years old I needed back surgery. I had 2 herniated discs in my low back that were causing excruciating pain down my left leg. At this time I saw 2 Chiropractors, one that was not making me feel much better and one that gave me a very thorough exam and suggested I have an MRI. A week later I was having surgery. It was about a 6 month recovery of very limited activity, no physical therapy and then a release to do whatever I wanted. I felt a little lost. I knew walking was good so I began to walk, whether I was in pain or not because you see, my surgery did not leave me pain free. I spent the next few years walking and weightlifting in an attempt to stregthen my core. If you want your back to get stronger, you need a strong core, right? That is when I was fortunate enough to find my first Pilates Instructor. She helped me to gain some of the deep abdominal strength I knew I needed as well as helping my weightlifting form and flexibility I knew I was lacking. In short, Pilates changed my life but I knew there was something more I could be doing.

I was trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up and had always thought I would be a doctor. Although I had a successful surgery and a good experience with traditional allopathic medicine, I knew it was not how I wanted to practice. So I searched. The one profession that spoke to me and kept me reading more was Chiropractic. I loved the idea of a profession that focused on tapping into the body's own healing. Through the nervous system, which controls and coordinates every structure in your body, you could essentially access your own healing potential. While in school I found a highly specific gentle method to do this. I knew immediately that you did not need to force the body in any direction and that cracking and popping the spine was not the only way to influence the nervous system in a positive way.

After my first D.N.F.T. adjustment, I knew this was what I wanted to learn and use to help people feel better. But I also knew it was much more than just pain relief, I was healing from the inside out. I had more mental focus and clarity and my aches and pains were fewer and father between, I was actually getting better and not just feeling better for a short while.

I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in summer of 2009 and a year later I moved to Chicago. While in Chicago I pursued a hands on education in the Pilates Method to further enhance my knowledge of how the body moves and how to improve. I received my Certification from Randi Whitman at Frog Temple Pilates Inc. and then taught full time for the next 2 years. I taught Pilates and saw patients in a small office part time. In January of 2014 I moved to Sioux Falls where I focused on Chiropractic.  I am now seeing patients in my private office located at 707 E 41st St #110.
